We have been hoping for Spring to arrive but we have seen a variety of weather. This includes lots of snow! We brought the snow inside for the children to explore. We looked at the texture and described how it felt. The language the children used was brilliant and they had a lovely time making snow caves and slushies.
For Science week we became nature detectives and went to look for minibeasts and different habitats on the school grounds.
Then we used our observational skills to see what happens when Skittles are left in water. We tried cold water and boiling hot water to see which plate of Skittles would show the rainbow the quickest. It was really exciting but we needed lots of patience with the cold water plate as it was a lot slower than the boiling hot water plate.
We then left them for the rest of the afternoon to see what would happen and eventually all the Skittles turned white!
Pine class decided to leave some Skittles out overnight to see what would happen, and you’ll never guess what… The skittles completely disappeared and we were left with a bowl of orange coloured water!
For World Math Day we made a pictogram based on the Happy smells experiment which we did for World Science Week. We were able to smell five different smells which were coffee beans, chocolate powder, lemon juice, mint shower gel and garlic granules. The most popular smell between the three classes was the Chocolate powder and the least popular being the garlic granules.

In the final week of the term we have made chocolate Easter nests and a basket to put them in. The children looked at what happened to the chocolate when we heated it.
We would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter and a wonderful two weeks off when we hope the sun will shine! We look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 17th April.
