We have had a great start to May and have been working hard in all areas of the curriculum.

English:

Our topic of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ has been going really well. After our exciting start we have been writing descriptions about the characters and settings. We have been using incredible adjectives, conjunctions and sentence openers.

Maths

We have been practicing the four operations as well as as reading scales (eg temperature and measuring jugs). Next we will move on to telling the time and consolidating our work on place value, recognising and using larger numbers.

Super Scientists:

In science we have completed our work on ocean animals learning all about how different creatures breathe and move under water. The children have been looking at the differences between animals which live on land and those under the water.

Topic:

The children have had fun learning about seaside holidays in the past. We have watched ‘Magic Grandad’ who has shown us what life was like for Victorian children when they visited the seaside. We have learnt about bathing machines, Punch and Judy together with other entertainments to be found on the pier.

Finally, we would like to congratulate all of Year 2 for their brilliant work during their SATs. We thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning.

Many thanks,

The Year 2 Team.
