Dear Parents and Carers,
So many exciting learning opportunities in and out of the classrooms over the past fortnight at Wigmore. Thank you to all who have been involved in organising these opportunities for the children and others.
Firstly, thank you to all the families who contributed to our non-uniform and cake sale day to raise much needed funds for the earthquake relief effort in Turkey and Syria. Your kindness and generosity resulted in an impressive £1079.38 raised.
Last week all Year 1 classes had the opportunity to take part in a walk around the local area to Wigmore Valley Park. The children and staff had a great time and felt very well supported by a number of parent volunteers.
This week in school we have celebrated the joy of reading for World Book Day. Yesterday the children were involved in a range of activities in their class and with other classes and today we have had children and adults in school dressed as one of the favourite book characters. Reading is at the core of the curriculum and we want children at Wigmore to have a love of reading for pleasure by reading for at least 10 minutes at home every night.
Year 2 Yew Class and Year 4 Willow Class both had sharing assemblies and did a great job showcasing their learning with the rest of their key stage and families. We have the Year 3 and 4 production coming up very soon which is always a real treat!
On the sporting front we have had children participate in a Year 3 and 4 Multi Sports Activity event at Inspire, a dance workshop in school, a Year 5 football tournament and some children recently attended a PE Rewards trip to Climb Quest in Milton Keynes. So many children have excellent behaviour for learning at Wigmore but places were limited on this trip and those who attended thoroughly deserved their opportunity. The children have access to some very high quality PE at Wigmore and will benefit enormously from this regular physical activity.
Well done to all our award winners listed below.

ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!
At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially. We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.
Every minute of every lesson counts!
Be in to win!
Be on time and in school every day!
