Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a truly vibrant week here at school! The sun has been shining down on us, and the sheer range of activities on offer, both inside and outside the classroom, has created a tangible buzz for learning across all year groups.

Seeds of Success: Our Sunflower Sale

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Sunflower Plant Sale after school on Thursday. Our green-fingered organisers have been incredibly busy in the great outdoors, and their hard work paid off.

The funds raised are going toward vital gardening equipment and a brand-new Science magazine subscription for the children. It’s wonderful to see our school environment and our curriculum benefiting from such a lovely community event.

Celebrating African Culture Day

Wednesday was a standout highlight as we celebrated African Culture Day. The school was a sea of bright colours, and it was heartening to see so many children wearing traditional cultural clothing with such a visible sense of pride and belonging.

Why we do this:

  • Dance Workshops: Children engaged in high-energy, amazing workshops that brought rhythm and movement to the halls.
  • Focused Learning: Classroom activities explored the deep and wonderful contributions African culture makes to our daily lives in Britain.
  • British Values: These events are essential in promoting respect and tolerance for all cultures, ensuring our school remains an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone.

Focus on Inclusion

Over the last fortnight, we have hosted several school improvement visits specifically focused on inclusion. These visits allow us to analyse and refine the work we do to ensure every child feels supported.

A special “thank you” goes to the children who welcomed our visitors so warmly, and to the staff involved in planning how we can make our school even better in this crucial area.

Supporting our Year 6 Pupils

Next week is a very important milestone for our Year 6 children as they sit their end of Key Stage 2 assessments (SATs).

The children have worked incredibly hard, and they should be immensely proud of their efforts. We would also like to extend our gratitude to:

  • The Teachers: For guiding these pupils through their primary journey.
  • Parents & Carers: For the late pick-ups, early drop-offs for booster clubs, and the endless support at home.

We wish all of Year 6 the very best of luck—you’ve got this!

Fundraising Update: Wembley to Wigmore

Our big fundraiser is going from strength to strength! Whether you are taking part in the Wembley to Wigmore challenge for adults or supporting the themed events for the children, your generosity is making a difference.

We are working hard to transform our outdoor space into the best playground in Luton and beyond. Thank you for your continued support in making this vision a reality.

ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!

At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially.  We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.

Every minute of every lesson counts!

Be in to win!

Be on time and in school every day!
