Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of what has been an incredibly action-packed half term, I want to take a moment to reflect on everything our wonderful school community has achieved. With fantastic weather forecast for the entire half-term holiday, it feels like the perfect time to step back, appreciate the sunshine, and be truly grateful for all the brilliant things happening at our school.

Here is a look back at a very busy few weeks:

Celebrating Our Year 6 Pupils

A massive well done to all of our Year 6 pupils who worked incredibly hard throughout SATS week. They gave their absolute best across all four days, and we could not be prouder of their attitude. Since then, they haven’t slowed down! They have been very busy in class focusing on their writing skills as they begin to prepare for their upcoming transition to high school.

A huge thank you to the staff, parents, and carers who have supported them so brilliantly, and once again, well done to the children.

Fun Runs, Marathons and Playground Fundraising

Today, the school was full of colour and energy for our Fancy Dress Fun Run! Events like this really capture the children’s imaginations and show them just how enjoyable physical activity can be.

Your incredible kindness and generosity have shone through once again, helping us raise over £5,500 so far for improvements to our playground. Combined with several kind donations we have secured from local businesses, our £12,000 target is fast becoming a reality. These improvements are going to benefit the children enormously.

On the subject of physical challenges, the adults taking part in the upcoming ultra-marathon distance walk from Wembley to Wigmore have been training tirelessly. Last Sunday, I actually crossed paths with them out in Hertfordshire (I felt slightly awkward as I was driving) as they completed a gruelling 31 km trek back to Wigmore! Their hard work and determination to push themselves sets an amazing example for our pupils.

  • Special thanks to Mr Marshall and Mr Whadcoat for all their hard work coordinating this.
  • Thank you to the many parents and staff working behind the scenes to make this challenge a special memory for everyone involved (even if their legs hurt for a few days afterwards!).

Community Spirit: Coffee Mornings & Charity Sales

Thank you to everyone who attended our Coffee Morning in the hall on Tuesday. Mr Greenacre really does an amazing job making sure everyone feels welcome at our school on a daily basis. Miss Wynter was also on hand to help, organising an excellent selection of second-hand uniform for our families. It would be great to see even more faces at our next one!

We have also seen fantastic leadership from our pupils this week. Yesterday and today, some of our Year 4, 5, and 6 pupils from The Orchard, Hawthorn, and Oak classes organized a charity sale, selling items they had lovingly made in their own time. It was incredibly well-supported and raised a brilliant amount for their nominated charities. Well done, team!

Inspiring Learning and Sporting Success

  • Year 3 Egyptian Day: On Wednesday, Year 3 immersed themselves in an amazing day of learning about the Ancient Egyptian civilisation. Thank you to the teachers for organizing such an engaging day, and to the wonderful parents and carers who volunteered their time to help out.
  • Sports Success: Well done to all the pupils who took part in the Quad Kids sports events and the cross-country relays over the last fortnight. Your determination and willingness to take on these tough physical challenges beautifully embodied our core school values of challenge and resilience.

 ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!

At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially.  We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.

Every minute of every lesson counts!

Be in to win!

Be on time and in school every day!
