Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope everyone is well.

Thank you to our children, parents and carers who have provided a warm Wigmore welcome to Mr Greenacre, our new safeguarding lead, who started with us this week.

Over the last two weeks it has been great to visit all classrooms across the school to see our independent learners in action. This week we had a maths curriculum focus day and it was pleasing to see the children actively engaged in practical maths activities, the children responding very well in all lessons. Children are also recording their learning with great care and pride in their books.

On Monday I spent the afternoon introducing Mr Greenacre to all our different classes. It was great that the children could name safe adults that they can speak to at school and at home if they have any worries or concerns. All the children understand the importance of talking to trusted adults about anything that is on their mind.

This week our Year 2 children visited The Tower of London to support their learning about the monarchy in History. The children had a fantastic day out. Thank you to all parents and carers who waited patiently for their late arrival back to school. The London traffic on the return journey to school was not very helpful. Thank you to the adults who organised this trip for the children.

Our Reception children also ventured out this week to Pizza Express for a fun filled morning of pizza making. We hope the children and their families enjoyed their pizza creations. Thank you to our organisers.

Last week the children in Year 4 took part in a day of learning about life during the roman times. The children fully immersed themselves into a day of learning which supported and complimented some of the things they have been learning in the classroom. As always the adults leading the day were very impressed with the knowledge of the children and their excellent behaviour for learning. Thank you to our organisers and helpers on the day.

Well done to Alder and Hazel class for leading fantastic sharing assemblies over the last two weeks. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to attend these events.

On the sporting front it has been another busy two weeks of physical activity for everyone at Wigmore. The school has sent young athletes to the following events:

  • Girls Futsal festival
  • Boys football matches
  • Basketball festival
  • Sportsability festival

Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to our amazing organisers.

Over the next 3 weeks we will get into the festive spirit with the start of our Christmas Craft workshops. We look forward to welcoming parents and carers into school for these.

ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!

At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially.  We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.

Every minute of every lesson counts!

Be in to win!

Be on time and in school every day!
