Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope everyone is keeping well.
Today in school the children have been wearing red and learning about the negative impact racism has on others. Discrimination, in all its forms, is unacceptable and it is only by educating people that we can do something about it. By working together change is possible. Please take the opportunity to speak to your child about the activities they have been completing in school today.
All parents and carers will be able to meet with their class teachers next week for parents evening. Make sure you take some time to have a look at the blog section of our school website and social media feed for all the updates of what is happening in and around school. The half term has flown past and the children have been involved in some amazing activities over the last fortnight.
Year 6 were involved in an Ancient Greek Day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank to those who organised and supported this on the day.
The children have been working in mixed aged classes doing activities for Black History month, they will showcase their learning to one another next week in school. The logistics of making sure the children have an audience with enough space to share their learning has been a challenge and we appreciate your understanding with the changes we have had to make to the assemblies. Thank you to the staff who have been busy organising these amazing learning opportunities for the children.
It was great to see children involved in the mastering number programme and visit their maths lessons last week. The behaviour for learning across the school was exemplary and the children were actively engaged in using resources to support their maths learning. Well done to all involved.
We have had two fantastic sharing assemblies from Year 6 Oak and Year 2 Rowan classes. Thank you to all who were able to attend this and to the teachers and children for sharing their learning with such confidence.
This week we have also commenced our school tours for Foundation Class for September 2025. If you know anyone with children who are eligible to start school next academic year please direct them to contact the school office to book a place on a school tour.
On the sporting front it has been great to hear about recent successes on the football and rugby pitch. The children thoroughly enjoy these opportunities and a lot of time and effort goes into the organisation of sport at Wigmore. Well done to all involved. The benefits of physical activity are enormous.
Today we will be sending some information to parents and carers who have children that attend Funtastic Club. The school is taking on the responsiblity of organising and delivering high quality wrap around care for the children from after half term. I would like to thank the current Funtastic staff who have been involved in the process to ensure a smooth transiton is in place and to all the staff at Wigmore and the school governors who have supported me throughout the process. If you have any questions about Funtastic or would like a place at Funtastic club for after half term please contact the school office. Best wishes to Archana and her committee ,current Funtastic manager, who are stepping down from their role. They have served the school community well for a number of years and we wish them all the very best for the future.

ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!
At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially. We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.
Every minute of every lesson counts!
Be in to win!
Be on time and in school every day!
