Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope everyone is keeping well and is looking forward to the end of the academic year. This will be my final blog for this academic year so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and carers for their support this academic year.
It has been a very busy July in school with some amazing learning opportunities for the young people at Wigmore. These opportunities do not come about by chance, they can only become a reality due to the hard work of the staff at Wigmore and the willingness of the children to engage so well in their learning.
Last week the children in Key Stage 2 were treated to a performance by Ricky Recycle to learn all about the importance of recycling. The Hypnocat Gameshow was a fiercely contested battle between two teams which was great fun for all involved. Thanks to Ricky and the staff who organised this.
Our individual track and field athletes also took part in the Luton Schools Athletics Finals. All children performed admirably and represented the school very well against some very strong athletes from other schools. Well done to all involved.
We have had several opportunities to celebrate the achievements of our young musicians at Wigmore as well with the following events taking place in school:
- Rock Steady Concert
- Participation in the Luton Schools Singing Spectacular
- Year 5 Guitar Concert
- Cultural Diversity Day with songs and dancing on the field
Well done to the children in Year 3 Aspen class for sharing their learning in their assembly which has also taken place. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to attend this.
This week the teachers have been meeting with parents and carers of our young people at Wigmore who have individual learning plans in place. We hope the parents and carers who attended these meetings found the reviews useful.
Over the last two weeks a number of classes have had trips and visits to support the learning that they are completing in the classrooms. Thank you to the staff who have organised the following opportunities:
- Year 1 trip to Ruislip Lido
- Year 2 trip to Stockwood Park
- Year 6 2 night residential to PGL in Wiltshire
Last week children from across the school had the opportunity to spend some time with their teacher for next academic year. It was great to see the children completing some amazing transition activities and I am confident that the teaching team for next academic year will support the children well with their learning.
Next week in school we will be saying farewell to our current Year 6 cohort. They have been such an amazing group of young people full of positive role models for all other children at Wigmore. We look forward to welcoming Year 6 parents and carers into school for their leaving assembly and hope they enjoy their last week with us.
At the end of the academic year we will also be saying farewell to Mrs Prowse, Mr Pateman and Mr Vetesse. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution to the Wigmore school community and wish them all the very best for the next part of their careers.
Value of the half term award winners for being the best version of themselves consistently

ATTEND TO ACHIEVE!
At Wigmore we have to aim to be here every day! Excellent attendance is 97% or above. There are strong links between good attendance and good progress in school, both academically and socially. We want to be the best we can possibly be and reach our school target of 97%. We have to make a concerted effort in order to improve attendance and punctuality.
Every minute of every lesson counts!
Be in to win!
Be on time and in school every day!
